Namibia`s wildlife and cultural flavour, 12 Days Tour

Day 1: Upon Arrival at the Hosea Kutako International Airport, a representative of Atutanga Tours & Safaris at the arrival hall will welcome you. For about 40 minutes, you will be driven to your accommodation in Windhoek, where you will have some time to rest and freshen up after your long flight. Provided you arrived no later than midday, you will meet up with your guide in the afternoon for a complimentary City Tour. End the day with dinner (own expense) at a well-known restaurant together with your fellow travellers


Day 2: We depart from Windhoek towards the north in the direction of Okahandja. We will have an opportunity for lunch in Otjiwarango before taking B1 towards Outjo. After Outjo we will take the route that will take us to our destination in Damaraland.


Day 3: On this day we will find ourselves visiting some of the natural phenomenon that Damaraland has to offer. After breakfast we pack our bags and heads off deeper into Damaraland. We pass by the petrified forest, before checking into our lodge. After check-in we depart to witness one of the largest concentrations of engravings in Africa at Twyfelfontein. Our Excursion will also take us to see the burnt mountains as well as the Organ pipes. As the continent was beginning to break apart, molten rock pushed to the surface and led to these strange and wonderful columns called Organ pipes.


Day 4: After breakfast, we make a turn at the living museum before heading for the northern part of Damaraland area, where our next lodge is based. We will have lunch and dinner at the lodge.


Day 5: For those who opted for Rhino desert tracking, the morning starts early. There are certain requirements for this activity. For those who did not opt for the tracking, enjoy the scenic game drive. Important information for clients going on a Rhino tracking excursion.

Day 6: Today we depart for Epupa falls on the north- western border of Namibia and Angola. Our Scenic drive will take us to Opuwo on time for lunch before proceeding to our destination on the banks of Kunene River.


Day 7: Morning after breakfast, it is time to explore this beautiful and largely unspoiled environment. We visit the famous Epupa Falls in the morning. The falls lie on Kunene River which borders Angola. The river is 0.5 Km and drops in a series of waterfalls spread over 1.5 km with the greatest single drop being 37 M. About 240 bird species are found in the area which is lined with Makalani plams, fig and baobab trees. After visiting the falls, we depart to visit the Ovahimba tribe in the village together with a translator. We will be back for lunch at the lodge and later in the afternoon we go on an excursion along the river. There is a chance of seeing the Velvet Monkeys and also do some bird watching apart from the main search for crocodiles. We will return to the lodge for dinner


Day 8: This morning sees us on our way to Ruacana where we will overnight at a lodge in this Namibian northern area. It serves as a getaway to the wonders of the Kaokoveld, the Etosha National Park, the Epupa falls and vibrant African culture of the Omusati, Oshana, Ohangwena and Oshikoto Regions.


Day 9: Depending on the season, we will visit the popular Ruacana waterfalls before departure. The flow of the Ruacana river falls are seasonal. This journey sees us entering the uncharted territory of Ovamboland also known as the O-Four- Regions, representing Omusati, Ohangwena, Oshana and Oshikoto region. Characterized by a hodgepodge of brightly-painted shebeens with quirky names, makalani palm trees, Oshanas (seasonal pods), Mahangu fields and traditional homesteads, Ovamboland is a new and interesting world. This trip is the most scenic drive like no other. Our genuine pause will be in Outapi, where we will visit the Ombalantu Baobab national heritage site. The 800 years old tree, which is in a former South African military base, was at various times used as a hideout. It takes 25 adult holding hands to circle the tree. Seasonal only: If our trip happens in the last week of August to the first week of September, then we will feast our eyes to Olufuko annual cultural festival. The Olufuko annual is an initiation ceremony that prepares girls for marriage through the revival of a cultural of preserving virginity. Our journey will take us to the popular town of Oshakati where we will explore the town of Oshakati before returning to our accommodation for dinner.


Day 10: After breakfast, we depart towards the town of Ondangwa on the South-Western side of Oshakati. We will make a turn at the Nakambale Museum on the outskirts of Ondangwa in Olukonda. The Sprawling Church built in 1889 still Stands and this home now houses the Nakambale museum named after Martti Rautanen who was one of the first Finnish missionaries in the northern Namibia. He was called Nakambale- the one with the basket, by locals because his scull-cap resembled a small basket. After the excursion we will continue our scenic drive up to our lodge near Namutoni gate.


Day 11: After breakfast, we enter the park at Namutoni gate, Crisscrossing the park and visiting popular water points and exiting at Anderson Gate, to our accommodation for the night.


Day 12: After Breakfast, we leave for our next venture. We take C38 road through Outjo and join B1 through Otjiwarango, to take us to our next destination Okonjima Africat Foundation. In the Afternoon, we will join the Nature Game-Drive, tracking leopard. We will round off the day with a sizzling dinner.


Day 13: Today we are headed for Windhoek. If time allows we will pass by Okahandja Craft Market before reaching the capital city on time for departure for those with an afternoon flight back home. For those with another night in Windhoek a complimentary Katutura Township Tour awaits you, before ending the day with dinner (own expense) at a well-known restaurant.
